Anxiety is one of the key problems of a person's mental health, which retains its relevance along with the development of society. It is no coincidence that in recent years, psychologists, philosophers, historians, and researchers in other social science disciplines have been paying increasing attention to the issue of anxiety.
Within the framework of this study, psychological and anthropological theoretical approaches to the characterisation of anxiety were presented, and directions for revealing the level of anxiety were emphasised. The characteristics of anxiety were presented within the framework of the methodology for applying cognitive styles.
The article examines anxiety levels—specifically trait and state anxiety—among individuals aged 20 to 40. These anxiety levels were compared with the cognitive styles of impulsivity and reflexivity. The study revealed links between high levels of trait anxiety and impulsivity, which resulted in distorted decision-making and non-constructive solutions. The findings may be applied in cognitive psychotherapeutic interventions aimed at reducing anxiety levels.
